Something to Talk About // Dee + Will

It was so exciting to be a part of capturing this beautiful wedding day!  It was our first time filming at the gorgeous, historic Manursing Island Club in Rye, New York, and it certainly lived up to all expectations.  And absolutely nothing that day was better than having the opportunity to work with this sweet bride and groom, Dee and Will.

Dee prepared for the wedding day at her parents’ home, not far from where both the ceremony and reception would be held.  Dee’s bridal party were all there in their pretty matching robes to get ready and to celebrate with her as they toasted the bride and her fiancé.  Once hair and makeup was complete, Dee dressed into her gorgeous gown.

And Dee’s wedding dress was absolutely amazing!  She wore a beautiful strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with a princess silhouette and fabulous 3D floral appliqués.  And we absolutely loved her detached floral sleeves, giving Dee two looks on her wedding day!

Meanwhile, Will and his groomsmen dressed into their matching classic black tuxedos at the Homestead Inn in Greenwich, Connecticut.  The guys had fun for sure, as they hung out and relaxed on the front porch of the inn before it was time to get ready for the day’s exciting events.

Before finishing with morning preparations, Dee and Will exchanged gifts and love notes they wrote for each other.  We loved having the opportunity to capture these moments for them to keep and treasure forever.

Then, the trolley arrived and transported the bridal party to the church on time!  Dee and Will’s ceremony was held at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, New York.  See just how overjoyed they both were at the sight of each other as Dee began her walk down the aisle!  The couple recited their traditional vows, exchanged rings and were pronounced as ‘husband and wife’.  Then, of course, they shared a first married kiss… and with pure joy, repeated it half way down the aisle!

Before the reception’s events kicked off, we filmed as the couple and their wedding party had their formal and candid photo shoots around the club.  It was such a pleasure to work with Ron Antonelli from Brian Dorsey Studios as he documented the day’s events in photographs.

It was then time to head to Dee and Will’s tented reception at Manursing Island Club.  With its gorgeous waterfront views, the large, modern tent was decorated so beautifully with lush floral arrangements in pinks and peaches, completely filling the long tables.  And the lovely greenery and domed lanterns which draped across the glass ceiling provided such added interest, especially after dark.  Later, a hot dog truck would be stationed conveniently nearby for those late night snacks!

The couple’s anticipated arrival was announced and they danced their very lively and beautifully choreographed first dance! It was so fun to see how much fun they had together!  Then, the dance floor opened to everyone for a short while before we were treated to Dee’s father’s toast.  We loved how he said Dee’s “happy meter” went up when she was with Will, and that’s how he knew “something really magical was going on.”

We paused then for those beautiful sunset photos on the Long Island Sound.  And after first course was served, Katie, Dee’s sister and maid of honor, and Will’s best man, Herbert gave their heartfelt, very natural (and funny!) toasts, followed by touching parent dances.  And the dancing continued well into the evening with everyone keeping that floor fully packed!

Claire Bean once again organized the most perfect wedding event.  After they cut and shared their delectable all-white, three-tiered cake,  Dee and Will thanked their guests for attending and for all their love and support.  We know their friends and family will forever remember the true love and joy, and the fun, that overflowed on this wedding day.

It was a true pleasure to film Dee and Will’s amazing wedding event and to celebrate with them.  We wish them love and happiness for today and always.
