We're excited to highlight two gorgeous wedding dress design styles: hand-painted and 3D floral appliqué bridal gowns!

Both of these lovely styles have been popular with brides for several years, and were two of the biggest wedding gown trends for 2025. Last year, we filmed a few brides who chose dresses with amazing hand-painted floral details and several others with eye-catching 3D floral appliqué embellishments, and they were all simply magnificent! We just know they'll be an absolute favorite with brides this year, too.

Hand-painted Florals

Bridal gowns with hand-painted floral motifs are truly wearable art, made-to-order just for the bride. These custom gowns feature beautiful flowers, such as tulips, irises, roses or even anemones, along with complimentary vines and leaves, most often painted onto organza or tulle overskirts. It can take nine to twelve months for designers to create these extra special works of art, so brides must be sure to place their orders very early. And because of the level of customization involved, these gowns are not inexpensive.

You'll want to see a few examples of these stunners! New York designer Danielle Frankel amazes with her Juniper and Agnes gowns (among several other slightly more avant-garde dresses). Lela Rose Bridal Atelier, has several beautiful hand-painted designs in their couture collection. Maggie Sottero contributes wonderfully to this trend with Sottero and Midgley's Vineyard gown. And be sure to see the incredible Luca gown from Amsale!

A beautiful bride we recently filmed, Kara, wore an amazing hand-painted Lela Rose gown, jacket and veil for her wedding, marrying Kyle at Our Lady Star of the Sea and celebrating after at Isaac Smith Vineyard in Cape May! Her dress had a modern straight bodice and beautiful ball gown skirt displaying all those perfect, hand-painted flowers. In addition, Lela Rose also has lots of beautiful 3D floral appliqué gowns to offer...

3D Floral Appliqués

Eye-catching 3D floral appliqués will grace many a bridal gown again this year. This beautiful, fanciful ornamentation is made from various fabrics, such as organza, lace, silk or tulle, and sometimes even includes beads or sequins. The decorative 3D flowers are literally 'stand-out' embellishments that have the appearance of real flowers emerging right from the wedding dress!

We're confident that 3D floral appliqué adorned gowns will be a dress of choice for many brides again this year because they're featured heavily in designer collections everywhere! Here's just a handful that include so many fantastic 3D floral embellished gowns in the Spring and Fall 2026 bridal lines from Maggie Sottero, Elie Saab, Monique Lhuilier, Georges Hobeika and Oscar de la Renta.

And we already have a ton of stunning examples from the weddings we've filmed in the past few years! At her wedding event with Will, Dee wore a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta bridal gown that had big and beautiful 3D floral appliqués. Her delicate sleeves made of flowers were detachable for a second lovely look on her wedding day.

Caroline wore a fabulous Suzanne Neville bridal gown with an intricate 3D floral appliqué detail and subtle sparkle from head to toe. She married Kevin at St. Catharine Church, then celebrated at their Bay Head Yacht Club reception in this beautiful A-line dress that also featured a plunging V-neckline and full skirt.

Maddie was such a gorgeous bride in her 3D floral lace appliqué gown by Sareh Nouri. Those appliqués were featured all over the dress she wore for her Congress Hall wedding, from her delicate shoulder straps to the end of her flowing A-line skirt.

And tiny 3D flowers can really make a big impact! Check out Caitlin's incredible Netta BenShabu Reef gown! She wore this stunning dress on the day she wed Dylan in Sea Isle City, their reception held at the iconic Congress Hall in Cape May.
