In the past, long-sleeved wedding gowns were almost exclusively fall or winter wedding event fashions. But not anymore! So many of today's brides are choosing to wear sleeves for their weddings, no matter the season, venue location or outdoor temperature.
Long-sleeved wedding gowns are so versatile, looking perfectly in place in all wedding styles and themes. Sleeves provide an extra bit of coverage on your wedding day, while still projecting a very glamorous image. And they're a wonderfully classic choice, so looking at your photos and film many years into the future, you'll find your wedding gown looks every bit as stylish as it did the day you wore it.
Popular long-sleeved bridal gown styles range from Victorian inspired to bohemian to modern and chic. Puff and bishop sleeves continue to attract more adventurous, free-spirited brides, and form-fitting lace or satin sleeves are adored by those with traditional, modern or minimalist tastes. But one thing they all have in common is a beautiful, timeless look and a flattering silhouette for every bride.
Note that the sleeves on most long-sleeved wedding gowns in 2023 have a sheer aspect, as illusion lace, 3-D floral appliqués and embroidery are extremely popular on long-sleeves again this year. This is wonderful news for warm-weather wedding brides! If your wedding is in the spring or summer, these lighter, breathable fabrics will keep you cooler.
Another long-sleeved option for your wedding during one of our warmer months is to choose a gown with detachable sleeves. Just take them off shortly after your ceremony has ended and formal photos have been taken. Or go strapless, but add a long-sleeved dress topper, jacket or shrug that can be worn for part of the day and removed when things get hot!
And even though sleeves can absolutely be worn all year round, long sleeves truly are a perfect fit for weddings held during those cooler months. So if you're planning a fall or winter wedding, you simply must try on some long-sleeved gowns, too!
