We’ve said it so many times before, we absolutely love filming at The Ashford Estate and were so excited as Brittany and Joe’s wedding was approaching. The icing on the cake was being able to work with this amazing couple. We had such wonderful conversations with Brittany before the wedding (she is so sweet!), so we knew this event was going to be fantastic. And it was!
Brittany and Joe met as students at the University of Maryland, College Park and both were very involved with the sports program. Their first conversation was in the athletic training room, but then they got to know each other better about a week later. They fell in love and were together all throughout their college years.
Joe’s proposal to Brittany was so thoughtful and so perfect, as he decided there was no better place to pop the question than at their favorite “happy place”! The two lived in Massachusetts for a few years and loved to travel to Newport, RI and to visit the spectacular hotel, The Chandler at Cliff Walk. So one spring day, Joe took Brittany there for brunch followed by a stroll on the Cliff Walk. There in the most breathtaking location, Joe asked her to be his wife. Brittany agreed of course and the two began making plans for their wedding which would take place almost exactly one year from the day they got engaged!
Brittany and Joe had a beautiful “all-in-one” wedding at The Ashford, so everything took place right onsite. Brittany’s bridesmaids wore matching floral robes as they got ready for the big event, had their hair and makeup done, then dressed in lovely long, matching champagne colored gowns and classic pearls. Joe and his groomsmen got dressed into their fine black tuxedos nearby on the premises, all looking so dapper and so ready for the day! Before the finishing touches, Brittany and Joe read such beautifully written love letters that they had exchanged. We loved how Joe wrote that Brittany holds the key to his heart. So sweet!
It was then time for Brittany to put on her wedding gown. She wore the most incredible off-the-shoulder dress with an A-line silhouette and gorgeous embroidery. She also accented with pearl jewelry and wore a long veil and a lovely sparkling hair clip on the back of her updo. Her bouquet was filled with lush, blush and white blooms from MDS Floral Designs, coordinating with the phenomenal flowers they arranged throughout the venue. Brittany was truly a stunning bride! Before the ceremony began, she shared a touching first look with her father where you could see the happiness and pride written all over his face!
Brittany and Joe skipped a first look of their own and decided to see each other for the first time at the altar. All their friends and family gathered in the chapel, with its whitewashed walls, stone fireplace and herringbone brick aisle lined with flower petals. Joe couldn’t contain his smile as he watched Brittany walk up the aisle to meet him. They recited their traditional vows and kissed for the first time as husband and wife!
After the ceremony concluded, we filmed as The Studio Photographers took additional photos of the bridal party. We worked alongside Frank and Dave Salomone a few years ago, also at The Ashford Estate, and it was so nice to work with them again! The weather was exquisite, so it was great that their photo shoot could take place outside on the picturesque grounds!
Brittany and Joe’s reception was held in the extravagant grand ballroom which was so beautifully decorated with towering flower centerpieces and soft, violet uplighting. The newlyweds were announced, then danced a special first dance together. Following a lovely welcome speech by Brittany’s father, her close friend and Joe’s brother treated us to very heartfelt toasts. Then the parents had the honor of dancing with the happy couple before the dance floor opened up to all. And it was totally crowded all evening as The Groove Shop kept everyone in great spirits and in the mood to party!
Brittany and Joe’s wedding day was truly romantic, personal and simply perfect… and it was so wonderful to film one of the most important occasions of their life together. Congratulations to Brittany and Joe! May your love continue to grow more beautiful and strong with every year!
