Lis and Vlad’s gorgeous, classic wedding was truly an intimate gathering of family and friends. Having their families be there for this special day was a huge priority for them and a focal point for the entire event. To also honor their families, they made sure to incorporate several elements from their Italian, Romanian, Jewish and Catholic heritages as well.
Lis and Vlad met while working at the same company and started dating about two months afterwards. Because Vlad often joked about all the perfect, fairy tale type proposals they watched on tv and in movies and said he would never do that, Lis was definitely caught off guard the day Vlad proposed to her! We love the story:
Lis was was dressed in yoga pants and one of Vlad’s old shirts when he texted on his way home from work that his mother would be over later to borrow their GoPro camera. He asked her to pick up a gift bag for his mother before picking him up from the train station. She did without questioning it, and noticed that Vlad was unsettled and out of sorts when they got home. He went upstairs and came down with the gift bag and told her he wanted her to open her Valentine’s Day present now (it was about 2 weeks early!). In the bag was a beautiful photo album filled with photos from the past two years. They went through them together and reminisced. Towards the end there was a photo of her dad smiling from ear to ear that she didn’t recognize. The last page in the album was taped shut. Vlad asked her to open it, and there it read ‘Will you marry me?’. It turned out that the GoPro story was concocted to allow the camera to be on the table, recording the whole thing! Lis also found out that the photo of her father was taken right after Vlad asked him for permission to propose. That’s a photo she’ll treasure forever.
Lis and Vlad’s wedding day began with preparations at the Westin Philadelphia. The couple exchanged beautifully written cards they penned for each other before they finished getting dressed and ready.
Vlad dressed in a custom tailored tuxedo with his name embroidered inside on a gorgeous lining, while the beautiful bride wore a stunning A-line wedding gown featuring a lovely sash and glimmering illusion neckline. Lis wore her long hair down in beautiful waves and attached a lace-edged veil which fell all the way to the floor. Truly a beautiful couple, inside and out.
Before their ceremony began, we traveled with the couple to the Merchant Exchange and City Hall to get footage of their photo shoot with Tyler Boye and his assistant. The photos are absolutely beautiful. Be sure to view some on Tyler Boye Photography’s blog. This session included a very touching First Look where neither the bride or groom could contain their tears of joy!
Their personalized ceremony was held outside at the Rodin Museum as the Philadelphia String Quartet played on. With his mother on his arm, Vlad walked to his place at the altar. During the procession, three precious flower girls in white tossed petals to announce the bride’s entrance. Lis’ father then walked her down the aisle to meet an emotional Vlad while the quartet played, ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love’, a nod to her father and special moments they shared while she was growing up. It truly was a heartwarming moment for all. The ceremony, officiated by Jill Magerman of Meaningful Milestones, was written by the couple and they recited vows they wrote for each other. They included a Unity Water Ceremony, pouring vessels of yellow and blue colored water into a new one to make green, symbolizing the blending their lives together as one. We were all also delighted to hear Lis’ brother, a trained opera singer, sing ‘Con de Partiro’ in honor of the couple during the ceremony.
After the ceremony concluded, they shared a beautiful first dance together on the terrace while cocktails were served, then switched partners and danced with their parents. The reception itself was held indoors at the Rodin Museum, surrounded by its stunning works of art. The dining room was filled with beautiful floral arrangements by Carl Alan Floral Designs and iconic sculptures. We were also so happy to be working with one of our past clients, Ann Marie Carlin, who did a fantastic job coordinating this gorgeous wedding!
Vlad’s mother gave a beautiful speech, saying that she came to America with a dream for the best future ever for her son, and announcing that her dream was complete. Lis’ maid of honor then made a lovely toast to the couple, to romance, love, beauty and art. Everyone was so thankful and happy to be there to celebrate the union of Lis and Vlad in marriage.
The evening concluded with an exciting sparkler salute to Lis and Vlad by all their guests. We simply loved Lis and Vlad’s wedding because it was so custom tailored to fit them and their personalities. It was a wonderful day filled with the love and respect of family and friends. We wish all the best to Lis and Vlad. May your years ahead be filled with love and joy!
