We’re seeing those beautiful, backless wedding gowns gracing so many brides! These bare back wedding gowns create such a gorgeous silhouette and are especially flattering on brides with naturally great posture. The look ranges from very sexy to sophisticated and is the perfect way for brides to achieve tasteful elegance while still showing a little skin.
The features on the back of any wedding dress are really just as important as the front. So many times throughout the wedding day, like during the majority of the ceremony and the first dance at the reception, all eyes will be on the bride’s back! So it’s wise to choose a dress with an interesting back detail.
Backless wedding gowns are found in many different dramatic and exciting styles and are paired with all skirt silhouettes. Wedding professionals predicted a lot of slimming silk sheath and elegant fit and flare gowns with dramatic open back designs throughout 2021 and 2022. And in the fall and winter months, they’re expected to be featured extensively with long sleeves.
Look for classic plunging V-back gowns, where the dress material makes a distinctive V-shape down the back. Or choose from many scoop back designs. Here the back of the gown takes on a definitive U-shape, sometimes with a cowl framing the bride’s back in gorgeous and glamorous draping fabric.
Other popular open back designs include keyhole back dresses. With this style, the bride shows off a cutout in the gown to give guests just a peep of her back, perfect if she’s not comfortable with going completely bare. A keyhole cutout, large or small, brings just the right amount of attention to her back. And this style looks especially wonderful when paired with cap sleeves.
Many backless gowns have fine netted, sheer fabric added. These illusion back wedding gowns can provide more structure to the gown and can offer brides a more covered-up feeling as well. They’re also often embellished with embroidery, lace, a pearl button-up detail and/or sparkling beadwork for added interest.
Finally, eye catching modern T-back designs offer such an element of surprise! These exciting gowns feature a strap in one of various sizes and materials down the middle of an open back… and always look absolutely amazing.
