It’s that time of year when Pantone announces its Color of the Year for the upcoming year, an event that’s eagerly anticipated within the fashion and design world. Based upon carefully studied market trends, Pantone Color Institute has chosen its #1 trending color for next year… For 2018, the winning color is: Ultra Violet!
Need a quick refresher on Pantone? In the world of creative arts, graphic design, textiles, architecture and countless other designers (including wedding professionals!), Pantone is the acclaimed expert on color. This North American company was responsible for the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a book of standardized color in a fan format that’s widely used in most graphic arts, digital technology, fashion, interior design, paint, plastics, and architectural markets. Pantone Color Institute is a unit within the company that forecasts trends, selects the Color of the Year each year and advises businesses on color choices. Pantone has been inspiring creative design professionals for over 50 years.
Ultra Violet is a deep and vibrant shade of purple that is said to communicate a forward-thinking optimism. Pantone Color Institute describes it as, “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”
Well, we might be partial to the color for several reasons (hint, it features the name of one of our co-owners!)! Plus, our own logo is in a shade very reminiscent of this beautiful purple. And wow, so many weddings we’ve filmed over the years have featured this hue of violet in their wedding color schemes! Check out Heather and Joseph’s glitter-filled wedding event that featured violet and several other shades of purple as well. We also won’t forget Priscilla and Steven’s beautiful purple-themed wedding at Bear Creek Mountain Resort! And we loved Diana and Matthew’s glamorous wedding at the Curtis Center, where a deeper shade of this violet was found throughout the event.
If you’re planning a 2018 wedding, is Ultra Violet in your color palette?
