It was appreciable when the Spring 2017 bridal collections hit the runways, then became really apparent to us filming weddings last year, that wedding gowns with standout beadwork were going to be very popular with brides. We saw several gowns with gorgeous beading mainly throughout the bodice. Now for 2018, designers such as THEIA, Monique Lhuillier, Houghton and Naeem Khan are featuring gowns not only with heavy beadwork, but with eye catching full-scale, top to bottom beading, especially in pearls, in their collections.
In 2018, look for wedding gowns with an abundance of glittering Swarovski crystals, glass or strings of pearls embroidered throughout the full dress and not simply on the bodice. Many of these silhouettes are trumpet, mermaid or sheaths, primarily due to the weight and drape of the fabric.
For brides that are going for a classic look, a beaded gown is elegant, luxurious and timeless. Wedding gowns that are heavily beaded are also perfect for brides that have chosen a vintage theme for their wedding, as an all-over beading is a very Art Deco inspired detail. Those that want to embrace the beadwork trend but in smaller doses or in more subtle ways can choose to showcase those beaded details in their accessories, such as belts, shoes and capelets.
Be sure to see Celia and Scott’s beautiful wedding day… her intricately beaded wedding gown is so gorgeous and you can check it out in all angles in their wedding film! Basia’s heavily beaded gown featured an amazing deep plunge illusion detail in the back. A captivating dress on a captivating bride! And check out Katie’s incredible sleeveless fit and flare wedding gown with a lovely high-neck illusion bodice covered in delicate beading, a detail that continued through her skirt. Exquisite!
