Once again, today’s weddings are dictating that many times, less is more!
This year, wedding experts and stylists are noting that for bridal hairstyles, simple, polished updos are favored over overly-styled and slick updos and are also up slightly over hair worn down. And we’re actually finding this statement to be pretty accurate with the brides we’ve been filming!
So many women wear their hair down or in a simple ponytail on most days. But their wedding day is one of the most special occasions in their life! It’s one day that begs for a fancier style, something extra special and out of the ordinary. However, today’s brides still want to feel like themselves, just the best version of that. The perfect way to marry these two notions is to choose a memorable updo up but to keep it simple and effortless… at least in appearance!
For the past couple of years now, an overwhelming number of brides are choosing updo hairstyles with a straightforward and uncomplicated look… loosely pinned up and slightly tousled locks and elegant updos that are not fussy or overly-sculpted. And there are actually many different ways to accomplish this effect:
- a low, loose chignon with wisps of hair escaping from the front of the hairline or from the bun
- an oversized bun placed high in the back of the head (or just slightly lower if a veil is worn)
- a tight bun in back with finger waves framing one or both sides of the face
- natural texture from waves or curls twisted and pinned up in the back
