With the emphasis on avant-garde sheer designs, eye popping cut-outs and plunging necklines in the past few years (trends that are expected to carry over again into next year), it’s no surprise that some designers are also making a subtle move in the opposite direction and featuring gowns with more classic, romantic attributes. Soft, off-the-shoulder designs, tulle, floral appliqués and bows will grace many bridal gowns across the nation. There certainly will be something for every bride!
In 2017, bows will be found in more oversized and architectural forms than in the past and most will be detachable. Making some bold statements, we’ll find a large, structured satin bow tying a sash at the front of the waist or a gauzy bow at the small of the back. Bows with long sashes will also be featured at necklines or even cinching the front of a full skirt. Expect to also find clusters of small bows on sleeves or a delicate row down the back of a full skirt. Beautiful bows will be featured in all shapes and sizes this year!
Be sure to check out just a handful of the beautiful brides we’ve filmed who chose dresses with bonny bows! One of Alex’s amazing gowns for her wedding in Hawaii featured a large, modern structured bow on the back. Lauren’s gorgeous Romona Keveza wedding gown had a dazzling belt tied in a thin bow with long delicate strings in the back. Lis’ mother helped to fasten a lovely bow to the sash of her elegant wedding dress. And Mari chose a heavenly A-line silhouetted wedding gown with a large sheer sash tied with a gauzy bow.
