Less is More // Minimalist Weddings

 shenorock shore club decor cord3films

We’ve recently written about smaller wedding venues, pared down guest lists and scaled down wedding flowers, all the norm for 2021 weddings.  And all these trends mesh very well with the overall minimalist movement.  Minimalism has been gaining in popularity for several years now, but this year and probably next, it’s taking over the wedding industry as more couples are simplifying their wedding events and choosing “quality over quantity” for their weddings.  Minimalist choices certainly fit perfectly with the “less is more” notion.  And we’re so excited to see the sleek, modern and simple lines of minimalist design at even more of our upcoming weddings!

Style & Grace // The Wedding Gown of Princess Grace

hillendale country club wedding images

The continuing popularity of the Netflix series, The Crown, proves that people just can’t get enough of the royals.  Millions just watched the funeral of Prince Philip from their homes and Meghan and Harry continue to stay in the news.  Their wedding almost three years ago was one of the biggest popular culture events of 2018. And Catherine Middleton’s marriage to Prince William drew nearly 23 million viewers watching the entire event live just from the US alone.

Believe it or not, Duchess Catherine and Prince William, married April 29, 2011, are nearing their 10th wedding anniversary now.  But there’s another royal anniversary to remember today… a wedding event that’s considered by most as the first royal wedding event in the modern era and according to Robert Lacey, renowned biographer and historian to The Crown, “the first modern event to generate media overkill.”

The wedding that captured everyone’s hearts and imaginations, and was an inspiration also for Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was the wedding of Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier III of Monaco.  Their “fairy tale” wedding took place over two days, with the religious ceremony held at Monaco’s Saint Nicholas Cathedral on April 19, 1956, 65 years ago today.  At least 600 guests attended this wedding ceremony, including many of the biggest Hollywood stars of the day.

Pearls of (Wedding) Wisdom // Wedding Day Pearls

valley mansion wedding photo wedding cake trends photos

When we were looking last fall at all the wedding trends expected to be big in the new year, we discovered, without a doubt, that pearls were going to be highly a desired accessory in 2020.  We were excited to see the different ways pearls would find their way into weddings once the season started.  Now that the pandemic postponed most events that were scheduled for the spring and summer, we still expect that this trend will continue on through 2021, primarily as many brides will be wearing gowns and accessories they purchased for their original 2020 wedding dates.

Wedding experts predict more brides will be wearing gowns with luxe pearl embellishments and will feature these organic gems on gorgeous hair combs, headbands and barrettes.  Pearls will also be prominent ornamentation on bridal handbags and shoes and will bedeck many a wedding cake.  And they’ll be forever popular in traditional wedding jewelry such as earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

Happy 1st Anniversary! // Stephanie + Monty

the barnes foundation wedding image  the barnes foundation wedding photos

We’re wishing Stephanie and Monty a very Happy 1st Anniversary!  The two held their wedding a year ago at The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia and filled the event with personalization and some very unique touches.  Their beautiful ceremony took place outside on the terrace, followed by a wonderful reception in the Annenberg Court.  And we were so honored to be there to film the couple and celebrate such a joyous day! Happy Anniversary!

The Outside World // Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

alpine country club wedding photos  wedding backdrop cord3films

Outdoor wedding ceremonies are inherently romantic and fresh as they’re inspired by nature itself.

With proper planning, they’re absolutely perfect for spring and fall wedding events.  And they can also be beautiful for summer weddings, provided that the ceremony isn’t long and there are options for shade and refreshments, especially in places where summers can be brutally hot and humid.  And of course, outdoor ceremonies may be the safest choice in the face of pandemics and sometimes the only approved and available option.

It’s simply awe-inspiring to say your vows with the open sky overhead, birds chirping in the distant trees and the smell of fresh cut grass or wildflowers all around!  And of course, wedding photos and video taken in lovely outdoor settings can be simply astonishing.

Keep in mind, if you choose to have an outdoor ceremony, you must Read more

Setting the Stage // Wedding Backdrops

We certainly know the importance of backdrops.  While guests are looking at you, watching you recite your wedding vows to your one and only, their eyes will also be drawn to what’s behind you.  Your background should provide a source of interest and reflect your wedding style and theme.  Don’t forget, the place where you have your first kiss as a married couple might just be Read more

A Gift of Love // Stephanie + Monty

In the summer of 2018, we had the pleasure of filming the wedding of Alexandra and Eitan… and now, we were thrilled to be filming Alexandra’s sister’s wedding as well!  Just a couple of months after Alexandra and Eitan’s Water Works wedding, Stephanie reached out to us through her wonderful wedding planner, Rachael Lassoff of Dream Day Events, and we were so happy that we were available for her September wedding date.  We couldn’t wait for Stephanie and Monty’s wedding at The Barnes Foundation to finally arrive.  And when it did, it was filled with elegance, love, joy… some tradition and a lot of personalization… and a few fun surprises too!

We began our day filming as Stephanie and her bridal party got ready at her parents’ home.  The ladies all wore matching light blue robes as they prepared for the day in the light-filled sunroom, and it was wonderful to see C.E. Facial Artistry again as they applied makeup and professionally styled everyone’s hair for the occasion.  And in another part of the house, Stephanie’s loving parents got dressed and ready for this very important day as well.  The bridal party, including Stephanie’s sisters Francesca and Alexandra attending as her maid and matron of honor, then changed into their beautiful periwinkle blue dresses.  And their lush and lovely bouquets from Long Stems were unbelievable!  We were in awe of Stephanie’s beautiful bouquet with its blue and white hydrangeas and thoughtful photos of beloved family members that remain close to her heart attached to the bouquet handle.

Stephanie’s mother then helped her dress into her gorgeous wedding gown, an amazing dress from Elizabeth Johns which featured a beautiful asymmetrical off-the-shoulder design and a slim and very subtle fit and flare silhouette.  She accessorized with classic pearls and her glamorous bobbed hair was swept to the side and adorned with a dazzling brooch for her reception.  Stephanie was absolutely stunning!  Her father received his first look at his beautiful daughter on the staircase of their family home and it was such a delightful moment for us.  Then, her bridal party had their turn too, as they waited in anticipation to see Stephanie descend the staircase in her elegant wedding gown.  After her sisters secured her veil, it was time to head to their venue for Stephanie and Monty’s magical first look before the ceremony.

Stephanie and Monty met outside at The Barnes Foundation, and when Monty was given the signal, he turned around to see his beautiful bride for the first time that day.  The two were all smiles for sure!  With the modern architecture and manicured grounds as the backdrop, the fantastic photo sessions of the couple, family and bridal party took place right afterwards, and it such a pleasure to work alongside the team at Asya Photography on this beautiful wedding day.

Stephanie and Monty’s wedding ceremony, which combined both Catholic and Muslim elements, took place outdoors on the terrace at The Barnes, with an amazing circular yellow, white and blue floral arch framing the couple as they spoke their vows.  It was so touching to see how emotional the two were (especially Stephanie!) as they recited their promises to each other.  Soon, they would be exchanging rings and saying their “I do’s”, officially becoming husband and wife.

The cocktail hour and reception then commenced in the Annenberg Court which was decorated so beautifully with floral arrangements in those lovely watercolor yellows and blues.  And their incredible hand-painted, five-tiered wedding cake from the Classic Cake Company was a work of art befitting the Barnes’ own art collection!  Tons of entertainment options were found at this wedding event, including a mime and an accordion player who delighted guests during cocktails and a live event painter who worked his magic during the reception.  Not to mention the fabulous band from EBE Talent, Monte Carlo, who rocked the house all evening long!  Everyone had such a ball!

During the evening, we heard such wonderful toasts from Stephanie’s parents, her sisters and from Monty’s best man.  Stephanie also gave a special speech that night, thanking their entire family and all their guests who were there to celebrate their love with them.  And those sweet parent dances captured everyone’s hearts.

We were on cloud nine as we celebrated another wedding with this fantastic, loving family.  We just knew all along that Stephanie and Monty were going to be such a joy to film and that their wedding day was going to be incredible.  And it absolutely was!  Congratulations and best wishes to Stephanie and Monty!
