Julianne and Mike met at Temple University one day as they carpooled to a club volleyball game from a parking lot on the campus. Mike actually knew that very night, when Julianne laid her head on his shoulder while laughing, that she was the one with which he would be spending his life. It’s so amazing that for so many couples when they meet for the first time, the deep connection and the feeling of completeness in a relationship is almost instant. When you know, you just know!
Mike’s proposal took place during the wonderful winter holiday season! In the afternoon during the Thanksgiving weekend, Julianne and Mike went out to get the Christmas tree for their home. Unbeknownst to Julianne and while they were out, Mike’s sister went to their rooftop deck in the city and decorated it with flowers and white string lights. After they had their Christmas tree all set up, Mike called Julianne to the rooftop where it looked just like an enchanted garden, and asked her to be his wife! Julianne said ‘yes!’ and they celebrated with a special dinner at Talula’s Garden.
Let’s fast forward to their beautiful almost fall wedding day. Julianne got ready for the day at her parents’ residence in the Villages at Herring Creek in Lewes, DE, just steps from where they would later hold their fantastic reception. Artistic Designs Salon was there to perform their fabulous hair and makeup services for Julianne and her bridal party and family as they gathered together to get ready (and take a fun break in the process to enjoy a champagne toast outside!). Meanwhile, Mike and his groomsmen were getting dressed and ready at Baywood Clubhouse, which happens to be the location of the wedding ceremony as well.
Julianne’s gorgeous Tara Keely wedding gown was amazing! Her dress had a beautiful sheath silhouette with a white crepe skirt and a lovely lace bodice. Julianne wore her hair up and in intricate plaits, fastened with delicate pearl pins for her summery, outdoor wedding. After she had her jewelry fastened just right, her father came in for his first look at his beautiful daughter on her wedding day. It was such a sweet and emotional moment and we were so glad we were there to capture it for them.
Then, Julianne traveled to Baywood Greens for her exciting first look with Mike! She and Mike met up on the beautiful grounds outside to get their first view of each other that day. The setting couldn’t have been more picturesque, with the lake in the background and the bright gardens at their feet. Julianne and Mike’s first sight of each other was magical… and everyone could feel the excitement! First looks are always such significant moments, and we truly feel that they really never diminish the specialness of the first look later at the altar for the ceremony. Marisa Albrecht and her assistant were there to photograph the first look and the wedding day’s events and it was such a pleasure to work alongside them on this wonderful day.
The ceremony was held in the garden overlooking the 18th green at Baywood Greens, a scenic full-service premier golf club in Long Neck, DE. The venue was made even more beautiful by Linda Geise from Baywood Greens who provided gorgeous floral arrangements in gold, orange, magenta, pink and white for the occasion. The ceremony commenced and Rev. Vicky Starnes delivered a beautiful service for the couple and their guests, which included messages that Julianne and Mike wrote to express their love and their promises to each other. Julianne and Mike were soon pronounced ‘husband and wife’! Cocktails were then served in the relaxed atmosphere at this special venue before the celebration moved to the Villages at Herring Creek.
After an additional photo shoot was brought to a close at Baywood, a trolley took the bridal party to meet up with guests who were already mingling with cocktails and appetizers at the Villages at Herring Creek Clubhouse for Julianne and Mike’s reception. The couple’s arrival was announced to cheers and they danced their first dance together as a married couple to James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go”. Touching parent dances followed before Julianne’s father delivered such a beautiful welcome speech and toast. We loved how he recounted his years as Julianne’s father and his love for her and provided sage advice for a happy marriage as well. Then, Julianne’s sister and maid of honor and Mike’s brother and best man gave wonderful toasts, speaking about their love and respect for the couple and how each looked up to Julianne and Mike over the years.
As dinner was winding down, the dance floor was heating up! The dance party continued well into the evening thanks to the musical collection and high energy of DJ Joe from Eclipse Entertainers! Guests had a blast on that dance floor all night!
What a fantastic wedding this was! The weather was beautiful and Julianne and Mike were so sweet and so much fun to film. And the entire day ran so smoothly thanks to the expertise of Erin Proud and the team at Proud to Plan! Congratulations to Julianne and Mike! We wish you a lifetime of wonderful memories and love.
