luau wedding image  unique weddings photograph

A destination wedding, of course, is a wedding that takes place a great distance from home, usually in an exotic or resort setting.  Many times, these are weddings set on a tropical island or held in a romantic castle in Western Europe.  And sometimes, they’re held in fun, whimsical locations such as Walt Disney World!

A lot more couples today are opting for destination weddings.  However, they’re putting a spin on the notion… instead of Read more

Gobos are small discs or templates that are inserted into special light projectors.  They are placed in front of the light source to control the shape of the light that is emitted.  The word gobo is actually derived from “go between” or “goes before optics”.  Uplighting is essentially a light fixture, usually placed on the floor, that produces a color that washes across a surface.

In the world of weddings, these techniques are used Read more

Dare to Be Different // Make Your Wedding Unique

Everyone wants to have their wedding stand out and to have it be remembered by all their friends and family for years to come.  While certain aspects of your wedding day will certainly be expected, such as the beautiful dress, the meaningful vows and the celebratory reception, don’t forget to make it special and just a little different from all the rest.  Show your guests that this event was truly designed with the wedding couple in mind…

Like in the case of Krystal and Jason….  Together, they folded 1,001 purple origami cranes held together by strings and used as a backdrop for their ceremony.  These cranes were made to symbolize a long and happy life together.  Krystal also wore shoes with their love story hand-painted onto them while Jason sported Adidas sneakers on which their wedding date was embroidered.

And Cara and Andy also had special touches added to their wedding event.  For one, their chuppa was constructed using their wedding invitations printed on handkerchiefs.  Another surprise was for the wedding couple themselves – their guests assembled into a flash mob and, for the moment, stole the show!

Candace and Dave’s love for baseball just had to be included in their big day.  They had their centerpieces during cocktail hour made with hurricane vases filled with baseballs!  And, their Phillies jerseys were signed by all of their guests, which they then framed to hang in their house.

Who could forget Ari’s children’s book, a memento that he created, published and then read before his guests.  He titled his book, “My Little Ford” after a nickname he had for his bride Rebecca.  Now that’s creative!

And one of the most unique weddings all around was Dorothy and Ken’s Hollywood inspired party.  Their invitations were movie banners showcasing their wedding details, complete with a theater venue.  And what great Hollywood event wouldn’t include a red carpet and paparazzi?!

So think about those things that make you as a couple stand out, say something special about you or showcase your unique personalities.  Then find ways to add those touches to your wedding day. …a little bit of the unexpected will keep it personal and memorable.

Hollywood Theme, New Year’s Eve, What Fun // Dorothy + Ken

What can be more exciting than a Hollywood themed wedding?  A New Year’s Eve wedding!  Dorothy and Ken definitely know how to throw a party!  A couple months before the big day, I received a red cardboard mailing tube in the mail.  Completely intrigued, I opened it quickly to find their invitation.  This wasn’t an ordinary invitation.  It was a movie banner!

They started off the day getting ready at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia.  Dorothy made me laugh the entire time she was getting ready.  She said Ken made her get Jimmy Choo shoes for her wedding day!  Who needs to be forced into that?  They looked amazing with her dress!  The ceremony took place at the very ornate and beautiful Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia.  We had a wonderful time working with Drew Noel Photography, who always does incredible work!  The reception took place at Hill Theater Studio in Paulsboro, NJ, where they had Hollywood spotlights illuminating the sky, along with paparazzi and a red carpet!  This theater was significant to Ken because his grandparents had met at that movie theater many years ago!  This fun couple also had a Joan Rivers impersonator who did a comedy act during the reception as well as a Cher impersonator who performed!  It was very entertaining!  Dorothy and Ken wanted more then anything for their guests to have a great time.  Everyone enjoyed themselves while The Franklin and Alison Band played their hearts out, and they celebrated the New Year together before saying goodnight!  Congrats!
