Katie and Bill’s wedding was our first for the new wedding season and held pretty early in the season at that. The weather in April sure can be unpredictable… But when we saw snow falling at this Jersey shore wedding, we were a little surprised! But the amazing thing about this couple, their wedding party and their family and friends, is that everyone just shrugged off the chilly winds, rain and snow and had a blast!
We absolutely loved getting to know Katie and Bill and had such fun filming their big day! Katie’s high energy is truly contagious! As the story goes, Katie warned Bill very early on that she “could be a handful”, to which he replied, “Well, it’s a good thing I have big hands.” That’s when she knew he was the one made just for her. We couldn’t get enough of her enthusiasm and spark throughout her entire wedding day, a perfect complement to Bill’s easy-going personality! Their match was simply written in the stars (the perfect theme for their wedding) as the combined 4s and 9s in their birthdates were the reason why they chose their April 9th wedding date.
Katie and her bridal party got ready with the expert help of Say I Do, Hair and Makeup in Stone Harbor, and it was definitely a full house! Katie was also sure to allow her beloved pups, Alexa and Olivia, to get in on the action as they dressed for their roles as “flower pups” for the wedding. During this time, Bill and his groomsmen prepared for the day at their reception venue. While they were getting ready that morning, the two read such beautifully written love letters to each other during those rare and precious quiet moments.
It was time then to head to the church. The two decided not to have a first look, instead seeing each other for the first time that day at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Stone Harbor. Bill was all smiles when he saw Katie come through the doors. Katie was so stunning! She wore a beautiful sleeveless fit and flare bridal gown with a delicate beaded detail, high-neck illusion bodice and a lovely sparkling headband with a long veil attached for the ceremony. She carried an exquisite cascading bouquet in ivory and lavender. During their traditional Catholic ceremony, their officiant reminded them that they are blessed. It was a lovely ceremony filled with emotion and meaning as they recited their vows and officially became husband and wife.
After the ceremony, we headed to the beach for their photo shoot with the incredibly talented Capone Photography. We absolutely love working with the team at Capone and this wedding would definitely prove to be a memorable one for all of us. (Be sure to check out some of their photos of Katie and Bill’s wedding on their blog!) While we felt a bit heartbroken about the harsh weather that day, Katie, Bill and their bridal party did not! Look at the wedding party braving the wind, rain and snow with their umbrellas during their shoot and yet still having such a great time! It was awesome!
With so many wonderful memories of growing up, and then later together, formed right there at the ocean, they selected Windrift Hotel in Avalon for their reception site, with its gorgeous beachfront location and exceptional ocean views. Katie and Bill entered and began their first dance, a magnificently choreographed waltz to ‘A Thousand Years’. They totally nailed it! And it was certainly a crowd-pleaser! The navy blue and white reception space was so elegant with white contemporary hanging globe lights and modern clean lines. Adding even more fun to the whimsical seaside décor, we loved the unique starfish and live goldfish centerpieces adorning the tables!
We were treated to sincerely heartwarming toasts from Katie’s parents, the Maids of Honor and Best Men before the ever-popular party band, Don’t Call Me Francis, got the party started! Everyone had such fun on the dance floor and we witnessed some truly amazing moves that evening!
This wedding was truly unforgettable in so many ways. It was inspiring to watch the two of them keeping so positive when the bad weather struck. But really, so much of this wedding went so perfectly as well. It was a beautiful celebration of such steadfast, unbreakable love. We can see that Katie and Bill’s relationship was definitely written in the stars and was always truly meant to be. We wish them heartfelt congratulations!
