Teammates is a wonderful description for Basia and Mike. The two not only make the best of friends and soul mates, but are a strong unit together, always there for each other. It’s a big theme in their life and so therefore, a prominent theme throughout their wedding day as well.
The two met and started dating in New York City where they live. After a few years, Mike knew it was time to propose. During a business trip to perhaps the most romantic city in the world, Paris, Mike tricked Basia into thinking they were going to use the cancelled dinner reservations of his boss at a restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. Mike of course had made the reservations for them many months earlier. He proposed there on top of the Eiffel Tower as a photographer he hired captured the moment. How romantic!
Everyone got ready for the wedding day at their ceremony and reception venue, the luxe Loews Hotel in Philadelphia. As hair and makeup was being finalized, Basia wore a special robe with “Bride” displayed on the back in rhinestones. Before they finished their preparations for the big day, Basia and her bridesmaids made sure to pause for a celebratory champagne toast! Meanwhile, Mike and his groomsmen enjoyed themselves in a nearby room as they ate, drank and reminisced during their prep time.
Basia’s wedding dress was amazing! She wore an off the shoulder, heavily beaded mermaid silhouetted gown with an incredible deep plunge illusion design in the back. She complemented her ensemble with a long veil attached at the back of her lovely updo and a gorgeous all white bouquet with small touches of greenery peeking through. What a beautiful bride!
The couple had a first look outside the hotel where the two first exchanged gifts around one of the columns (without peeking!). After getting their first good looks at each other, Mike helped Basia put on the bracelet he gave her to celebrate this wonderful day.
At the ceremony, Basia made her entrance with string accompaniment from friends as Mike met her and walked with her those last few steps. Basia’s brother officiated the ceremony as they stood in front of a gorgeous twig and white flower arch and read vows they each personally wrote for the other. It was such a touching, personalized ceremony.
After the ceremony, Basia and Mike took a leisurely stroll down the cobblestone streets of historic Philadelphia while our friends from Hoffer Photography captured it all for their professional photos. Be sure to check out some of the amazing photos on their blog! Everything was simply perfect.
Back at Loews, the Millennium Ballroom was decorated with lovely floral centerpieces in ivory and blush by Russell Anthony Florist. The room was also awash in violet uplighting giving it an even more romantic, glamorous feeling.
This wedding was full of wonderful personalization. Some Polish traditions and music was found at the reception. Plus, Basia and Mike call each other their “bear” so of course, another pronounced theme in their wedding was bears. They chose to have cake pops from Sweet Whimsy Cake Pops evoking images of Paris, bears and New York (where they met) for favors for their guests. Towards the end of the reception, the two donned bear costumes and brought everyone back onto the dance floor! Basia and Mike were also partially brought together by the song, ‘Black and Yellow’, so you’ll find yellow and black sunglasses on some of the guests as they danced too!
Speaking of the dance floor, everyone had so much fun dancing the night away! DJ Damian P did an awesome job DJ’ing this wedding…. and Mike even got a turn at the turntables! It was a fantastic party to celebrate a couple loved by so many.
Basia and Mike’s wedding was truly so custom made and so perfect! They’re an amazing couple who together, make the best team. We know, as they said in their beautiful vows, they’ll love each other until the last beat of their hearts. Congratulations to Basia and Mike!
