Come Fly With Me // Julia + Michael

What a beautiful couple and a beautiful late summer wedding event this was!  Careful planning on the part of the bride and groom and their fantastic wedding planner, Lisa Marie Chimento of Kaleidoscope Weddings, ensured that this day was perfect from the morning preparations to the grand exit at the reception.  And it was such a joy to be a part of capturing this magical day for Julia and Michael.

Julia and Michael each began their special day enjoying time with their friends and family.  Julia, along with her mother and her bridal party, got ready at her grandparents’ luxurious estate, The Valley House, situated on a private, serene lake in New Jersey. There, they all enjoyed a lovely brunch and had their hair done and makeup professionally applied by Daneene Jensen & Associates and Louis Christian/Robert John Salon.  There was also cherished quiet time that Julia spent with her mother before the hustle and bustle of the day that was so dear and special to just the two of them.  After hair and makeup, Julia’s bridal party made sure to take time out to toast the couple before dressing out of their matching robes and into their beautiful pink and pink & white gowns.

Also during those morning preparations, we were thrilled to have Julia and Michael read for us the sweet love notes they wrote for each other.  Michael read his card from Julia as he got ready at her father’s home in Philadelphia.  In it, Julia reminisced about their first meeting and described her love for him.  Michael and his groomsmen then dressed into their matching classic black tuxedos… and check out those eye-catching accessories!  Michael’s groomsmen received such awesome socks with his and Julia’s faces on them!  It’s always great to add a touch of personalization and humor to the wedding.  It wasn’t long before Michael and his groomsmen were boarding a trolley on their way to Julia’s grandparents’ estate.

Julia then dressed into her gorgeous wedding gown.  It featured a beautiful princess silhouette with a classic belt, delicate lace throughout and an amazing illusion neckline.  Beautiful already, she was such a breathtaking bride on this most important day.  Before Michael viewed his bride for the first time, Julia shared a touching first look with her father.  Michael too had a special and emotional first look with his mother.  We know these parents are so proud of how their children grew, probably too fast, to be remarkable adults and are so happy that they found such incredible, loving partners with which to spend their lives.

Julia and Michael then met on the pristine grounds on the estate for their own first look.  This is always such a special moment and we loved how Michael asked Julia to give him a spin!

There at The Valley House, the couple spent precious ‘alone’ time walking around the gorgeous gardens, along the lake and on the dock overlooking the water.  Their wedding party also joined them for their wonderful photo shoot as Amy Rizzuto Photography, who were amazing to work with, captured this beautiful day.  Then, they all boarded the trolley to travel to the church together for the ceremony.

Julia and Michael’s ceremony was held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Philadelphia.  Julia entered the church on the arm of her loving father and walked up the aisle to meet Michael.  You could clearly see the emotion written on Michael’s face and how he fought to ‘keep it together’ at the sight of his bride entering through the doors. We especially loved how Julia looked at her father as she walked and how she gazed up at Michael as she approached him at the altar.  Their traditional ceremony included a full Mass… and also the amazing talent of the Keystone State Boychoir!

Following the ceremony, we traveled to Julia and Michael’s reception venue, the historic and stately Union League of Philadelphia.  It’s such a grand setting for a wedding event, with its polished marble, rich and detailed woodwork, brilliant chandeliers and prestigious artwork collection.  The bridal party all attended the cocktail hour here, during which we were treated to a special performance by the mummers!

At the Union League, the Lincoln Hall ballroom décor overflowed with drama, with tall table centerpieces that included white calla lilies, hydrangeas and orchids surrounded by floating candles.  And their six-tiered wedding cake with its intricate piping was absolutely a work of art!  This was such a wonderful, glamorous affair and as always, Carl Alan Floral Designs and DFW Event Design did an amazing job with the flowers and décor!

The bridal party entered the ballroom followed, of course, by the couple of honor!  Julia and Michael’s first dance together as Mr. and Mrs. was so perfect.  The two truly looked like professional dancers performing a wonderfully choreographed dance for their guests.  And Michael lifting Julia into the air was just icing on the cake!

Julia’s father delivered a fantastic welcome speech to all the guests and reminded the couple to take in and cherish all the love in the room that evening.  During dinner, we heard more fantastic toasts from Julia’s matron of honor and Michael’s best man before that spectacular cake was cut.  Touching parent dances followed the cake cutting… and lots of dancing by their guests all evening long to the energetic sounds of the Sid Miller Dance Band!

Julia and Michael’s wedding event ended with a special sparkler exit on one of the twin grand staircases of the Union League, where their friends and family gathered to send them off and into their new life together.  This was such a wonderful day of celebration, overflowing with the love of family and friends.  Congratulations and best wishes to Julia and Michael!

Some Enchanted Evening // Casey + Colin

Casey and Colin met online and emailed back and forth for a little while before meeting for the first time in person.  When they did, they met at Tria for drinks and ended up staying until closing time!  They were both head over heels for each other right from the beginning, and their relationship grew very quickly.  Within weeks, the two were “officially” dating!

On their second anniversary of becoming a couple, the two went back to Tria and then to Parc (where that first talk of becoming “official” had occurred) for drinks and dinner.  When they returned to the apartment, inside the darkness were so many tea lights (battery operated of course!) and rose petals scattered everywhere.  There was a long white paper rolled out and lined with more tea lights and rose petals, with every important moment they shared together written on a timeline along this paper runway.  At the end, Colin had written a list of stats they had gathered in their time together and for the final moment on the paper, Colin had written that day’s date with “The Proposal”!  Casey was shocked since the apartment was completely normal when they had left, but Colin, who had planned this for weeks, had arranged for two friends to set everything up while they were out.  Casey said ‘yes’!

On their lovely almost-fall wedding day, Casey and Colin each got ready at the Marriott hotel, the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown.  Daneene Jensen and Associates professionally styled the hair and applied the makeup for Casey and her beautiful maid of honor and bridesmaids there at the hotel before the bridal party all dressed into their formal gowns (and the bridesman in his suit!).  In a nearby room, Colin dressed into his stylish blue suit and took time out of getting ready with his groomsmen to read a beautiful card Casey wrote for him just for this day.  Casey received her love note from Colin as well, and read it aloud for us.  It was both sentimental and funny, as Colin told her he couldn’t wait for them to dance that wedding staple, the cupid shuffle!  After opening their gifts to each other, the couple continued to get ready for their wedding event.

In her gorgeous wedding gown, Casey looked like a fairy tale princess!  As Colin would say shortly afterwards, she truly looked “amazing”!  Casey wore a beautiful strapless Watters bridal gown, with an intricate lace overlay and beaded sash.  She wore a long, flowing veil on the back of her hair for her ceremony and accessorized with dazzling earrings and a bracelet.  Her sister and maid of honor and her mother helped her with those final preparations, and once she slipped on those fantastic Betsey Johnson shoes, she was ready to go meet Colin!

Casey and Colin met for the first time that day outside near their venue for their exciting first look!  We were thrilled to be able to capture that moment for their film, as the two couldn’t take their eyes off each other!  We were so happy to work with Magi and her team at Magdalena Studios too, who photographed this wonderful event for the couple!  Be sure to check out her blog to see so many incredible photos from the day, a few of which are found below!

After their formal photo shoot, it was time for their ceremony to begin outdoors at the Horticulture Center in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, with the idyllic gardens and reflecting pool fountain as the backdrop.  Officiated by Colin’s cousin, who was also among his groomsmen, their ceremony was so personalized, so sincere and so special.  We loved the vows that Casey and Colin wrote for each other and the pure emotion they felt as they recited them for each other.  There was hardly a dry eye and at times, it felt like no one else was there aside from the couple during these touching moments!

With all the lush, green plants and trees and twinkle lights strung throughout, Casey and Colin’s wedding reception at the Horticulture Center had the feeling of a magical, enchanted forest!  Casey had wanted a fairy tale, ‘Mid-Summer Night’s Dream’ vibe and she definitely achieved it!  Uncommon Events helped set the stage for this delightful wedding event, with lush flower centerpieces in bright shades of magenta and violet.  It was romantic and exciting at the same time!  And be sure to check out that scrumptious wedding drip cake from Sweet T’s Bakeshop!

Casey and Colin entered the modern greenhouse and danced their first dance together… followed by a fantastic rush by her bridal party to join in on the dance floor!  Lovesick, Inc. DJ’d this wedding event and definitely kept the party going all evening.  Guests had a ball on that dance floor!  During the reception, Casey’s mother provided the blessing, followed by her father with his heartfelt welcome toast.  Later, we were delighted to hear the speeches from Casey’s sister and from Colin’s best man as they each reminded us of how much Casey and Colin complement each other, how much they’re a perfect fit and how much they’re wished love and happiness.  Just as Casey’s father had toasted to them, “May all their wishes come true.”  Congratulations to Casey and Colin!

Love, The Best Medicine // Sarah + Nick

Sarah and Nick’s wedding was absolutely perfect in every way.  This beautiful, grand wedding event was held at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and as the bride and groom are both doctors, the chosen venue couldn’t have been more apropos. This historical building is home to the oldest medical society in the US and features a stately, columned marble rotunda and opulent period furnishings.  And this couple certainly was as delightful and as perfect for each other as they come!

Their wedding ceremony took place at The First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia.  Sarah and Nick wrote their own personal vows, which we absolutely love.  As they not only professed their love for each other, they announced their admiration as well, and how much each inspired the other to be the best person they can be.  They were so well written and deeply moving.

Sarah looked so glamorous in her strapless, lace covered trumpet silhouette gown.  The beautiful bridesmaids wore matching royal blue gowns and Nick and his groomsmen were sharp dressed men in their classic black tuxedos.  We were sure to film the party while fabulous formal photos were taken in front of the church and around the city by award-winning photographer Jim Heine.

We were in awe of the sensational toasts given to honor Sarah and Nick at their reception.  Their parents‘ speeches were both lighthearted and sentimental, and Sarah’s sister and the best man delivered heartfelt tributes to the couple.  And of course, one of the highlights of the reception was Sarah and Nick’s wonderfully choreographed first dance! Their routine was flawless!

Once again, Beautiful Blooms supplied impeccable floral arrangements and décor.  And Urban Guerilla Orchestra, led by Henri McMillian, kept the dance floor packed with their high energy rock and funk classics and more!

One more note about their “to a tee” personalized reception: they chose to have blood themed cocktails, not only fitting for two doctors but also a perfect idea for a wedding held in the same building that houses the Mütter Museum, a medical museum featuring historical medical instruments, studies and human oddities!

Sarah and Nick’s wedding was so unique and such a pleasure to film.  The two make a perfect couple and we know their love will only grow stronger each day.  Heartfelt congratulations to Sarah and Nick!

Spring Romance // Stephanie + Brian

After their first meeting several years ago, the time had finally come for Stephanie and Brian to tie the knot!  And they certainly picked a lovely day to be married.  With the winter weather lingering so far into spring this year, nature surprised us and cooperated so nicely on this perfectly warm and sunny April day!

Stephanie and Brian’s charming wedding event took place at the Lake House Inn in Perkasie, Pennsylvania.  The groomsmen were able to take in a round of pool before getting into their black tuxedos for the afternoon wedding.  They looked very handsome in their black ties, while Brian stood apart in his white tie.  And Stephanie’s bridesmaids were so beautiful in their matching blush gowns…in perfect harmony with the couple’s blush and champagne theme colors.

Stephanie looked absolutely beautiful in her mermaid style wedding gown.  It was strapless and had gorgeous delicate beading embroidered down to the skirt.  You could feel Brian’s anticipation as he waited to see Stephanie for the first time.  The two were so excited for the day’s events!  They are such a warm, friendly and fun couple.  We loved every minute of our time filming them!

With the weather being so agreeable, many of the day’s events were able to commence outdoors.  The ceremony took place facing the serene lake at the Lake House Inn.  We were able to film the wedding party in front of the venue, while Kevin York took photographs.  Inside at the reception, Buttercup (by Jeffrey A. Miller Catering) did an amazing job filling the venue with florals, mainly blush and ivory roses to complement the theme colors.  Even the delicious cake had gorgeous pale pink roses to match!

Lovesick Inc. provided the evening’s entertainment and they definitely did not disappoint.  The guests had a great time dancing the night away and celebrating the love that Stephanie and Brian share.

As Stephanie’s maid of honor said so eloquently at the reception, “True love gives life real meaning.”  And she couldn’t be more right about that.  Congratulations to Stephanie and Brian.  May your lives be filled with love and joy!
