Better Than One // Wearing Two Wedding Dresses or Looks

hamptons wedding image  hamptons wedding images

We shared info about this exciting idea several years ago when it was a pretty new trend… Many brides today are choosing to wear two different wedding dresses on the wedding day.  One wedding dress, often a bit more extravagant, is worn for the more formal parts of the day (during the ceremony and professional photos) and the other wedding dress is reserved for the reception.  This second dress usually has fewer embellishments and often functions more as a party dress.

While this trend is still increasing in popularity year after year, the majority of brides in the US are still taking the traditional approach and choosing just one gown for their big day.  Budget is usually the main deciding factor, however there are also logistical considerations to contend with too (read all about them below!).

Happy 1st Anniversary! // Alexandra + Justin

cork factory wedding image  cork factory wedding images

Happy 1st Anniversary wishes today to Alex and Justin!  The two were married, in a ceremony officiated by their good friend & a bridesmaid in Alex’s party, one year ago today at the Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Their reception followed there in the ballroom of this fantastic, historic industrial chic venue, where the couple and their friends and family celebrated all evening long!  What a wonderful day this was!  Happy Anniversary, Alex and Justin!

Through All Life’s Adventures // Alexandra + Justin

Alex and Justin are from different, distant states but met by chance at a training seminar in Ohio after starting work for the same insurance company.  They dated long distance for about a year until Justin and his friend (who was his best man at his wedding) moved to Philadelphia, not too far from Alex.  Now the two could finally be together full time, permanently!

After about two more years together, Justin began making his plans to ask Alexandra to be his wife.  In February 2019, the two decided to have dinner out to celebrate Valentine’s Day and to meet up from friends at a brewery afterwards.  On the way to dinner, Justin popped the question and Alex said ‘yes’!  So once they got to the brewery later that evening, of course all of Alex’s closest friends and family were there to celebrate!  A day to remember forever for sure.  And another day to remember was their lovely May wedding day!

Alex and Justin’s entire event took place at the historic Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the site of a former 19th century cork and later glass company.  We absolutely love this industrial chic venue, with its exposed brick and ductwork and vaulted, rustic wood ceilings.  It’s infused top to bottom with such character and personality!

Alex and Justin got ready in the Wedding and Billiards suites at the Cork Factory.  After a round of pool, Justin dressed into his handsome, classic black tux, then took some quiet time away from everyone to read his love note from Alex for us.  It was so sweet to hear him read her words, that they’re “truly better together”.  And Alex was sure to read her love letter from Justin, too!  We always love this warm, candid moment in the day.

Alex dressed into her gorgeous Essense of Australia wedding gown and looked absolutely amazing!  Her gown had a deep-V neckline, delicate spaghetti straps and a lovely princess silhouette.  Her full skirt overlay featured pretty floral appliqués and at her waistline was an elegant beaded belt.  Alex was such beautiful bride!  A sweet photo of Alex’s father was fastened to the handle of her bouquet to keep him close to her heart on this special day.  And that lavish, overflowing bouquet in pretty pinks from Petals with Style was so fabulous!

A first look outside at Cork Factory was scheduled next!  With lots of giggles, Alex and Justin saw each other on their wedding day for the first time, all dressed in their wonderful formal attire and so excited for the day!  We always love this moment and were so happy to capture it for them for their cinematic film.  Photos followed with Elizabeth Moore Photography and it was such a pleasure to work with this team.

Then, it was time for Alex and Justin’s onsite ceremony.  And their personalized wedding ceremony was made extra special with Alex’s good friend (and bridesmaid), Kathryn, as the officiant.  She led the two in reciting their vows to each other and saying their ‘I do’s”!

The Ballroom at the Cork Factory was set up so beautifully for the reception.  The newlyweds entered the room to the cheers of their friends and family and danced their first dance together while everyone looked on.  After their sweet dance, Justin danced with his mother and Alex danced with her brothers.  This was followed by those heartfelt toasts from Alex’s maid of honor and from Justin’s best man.  And Alex’s three brothers also gave such cherished toasts to the happy couple.

Alex and Justin cut their scrumptious cake from The Baker’s Table and shared the first piece, then Alex changed into a second, fabulous wedding outfit, a jumpsuit that was just made for dancing the night away!  Guests loved the energetic DJ from Synergetic Sound + Lighting and packed the dance floor all evening long!

It was so fantastic to be back at Cork Factory Hotel and extra wonderful for the reason to be the wedding of this sweet couple.  We wish Alex and Justin a lifetime filled with love, success and happiness!

Farm Fresh // Farm-to-Table Weddings

ryland inn wedding photos  farm to table weddings photo

Farm-to-table, also known as farm-to-fork, is essentially a consumer practice that promotes the utilization of foods that complement seasonal availability and on purchasing from local and family farms that greater employ environmentally friendly practices.  It also includes promoting local community and school gardens.

Farm-to-table cuisine is based on a movement that actually started decades ago to counter the overly-processed and imported foods that were taking over the market.  Restaurants like Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California set the standards for locally and sustainably-sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients.  Other select restaurants followed suit, however within the last ten years, the farm-to-table movement has seen a brand new and robust following.
