This was not a wedding. The “groom”, David, pointed this fact out in humor as the reception kicked off to celebrate the happy couple. Already married back in February at City Hall in New York City, this was a joyous celebration of the newlyweds at a reception held with their cherished friends and family. And it was a party that rivaled any wedding reception we’ve had the pleasure of filming!
They overcame so many obstacles, as David pointed out, in order to be celebrating their marriage that day. These hurdles included seven time zones, 5,000 miles, four government bureaucracies, three jobs, two wedding attempts and one deportation! And it was all due to a simple twist of fate that led them to meet in Athens years ago and begin this journey towards a life together in marriage.
Monika was a truly stunning bride in her beautiful wedding gown. It had a fitted bodice with cap sleeves, covered in delicate lace and featured an open back. And her skirt was pleated, light and full: a winning combination that looked like it was made just for her.
The two had an exciting “first look” in their wedding attire outdoors on this beautiful afternoon. We always love to see the reactions of our couples when they see their partners all dressed up! Video and photos were taken both indoors and outside at their venue in Philadelphia. What a lovely location for this gala. And it was a pleasure to work with Artistic Imagery who provided their photography services for this occasion.
Inside at the reception, colorful florals in yellow, ivory, orange and lavender were arranged in lovely clear vases around the event. Brian Kappra and Evantine Design did an amazing job with the decor for this wedding celebration. The lavender was picked up again in their unbelievable 4-tiered white wedding cake, circled and topped with delightful lavender flowers. And we absolutely loved the touching speech given by Monika’s sister Natalie, who honored her sister’s courage in leaving all that she knew and loved ones in Greece for a move to the United States. We all know that the love shared between Monika and David makes it all worthwhile.
After Monika and David performed their graceful first dance, the rest of the guests joined in with them on the dance floor. DJ Jon Gill provided the upbeat music for this party as wonderful Greek traditions also continued in dance, laughter and celebration. Their guests really knew how to salute the happy couple and you could see how much everyone truly enjoyed themselves at this celebration!
Congratulations, Monika and David! We wish you much continued love, health and happiness!
