Who says Jim is not a romantic? Jim had asked Kelly to spend the evening in Philadelphia, an idea that Kelly completely loved since she had just moved from the city and was missing the city life. They ate at one of her favorite restaurants where by chance, Kelly happened to joke that Jim wasn’t very romantic… little did she know what was coming! After dinner, they decided to walk to a favorite bar and when Jim turned the wrong direction, Kelly noticed but decided to just let it go. They then turned down a picturesque street with white string lights wrapping all the trees and when they reached the middle, Jim got down on one knee and proposed! Kelly said ‘yes!’ of course and the two started planning for this magical day!
On the morning of their wedding, Kelly and Jim got ready in separate rooms at Hotel du Pont, the fabulous hotel in downtown Wilmington where they would later be celebrating their reception. Jim took a pause from getting ready to watch a sweet video that Kelly had recorded earlier for Jim, expressing her excitement for the upcoming wedding day, along with well wishes from his father and many in the bridal party as well. During her morning preparations, Kelly read a lovely love letter that Jim penned for her as well. In it, he described all the reasons why he loves her so much and why he’s so grateful to be able to soon call her his wife. Kelly also received a dazzling heart necklace from her love!
As the preparation continued, Kelly’s bridesmaids dressed into striking, mismatched gowns in champagne that all glittered so beautifully. Kelly and her bridesmaids all carried such beautiful, delicate bouquets in white, blush and soft peach from Blossom Boutique. Jim and his groomsmen all wore such stylish matching blue suits for the affair!
Kelly then, with help from her mother and her bridal party, dressed into her gorgeous trumpet silhouetted gown with a beautiful lace overlay and long sleeves, a dress that certainly rivals Kate Middleton’s royal wedding gown! Her preparations were just about complete when Kelly was given Jim’s grandmother’s pearl necklace to wear for this wonderful occasion.
Then it was time to head to the church! At St. Anthony of Padua, Father Nicholas Waseline gave a wonderful personalized message for the couple, reminding them that their marriage will give them each new life and grace every day. They recited traditional vows and were pronounced ‘husband and wife’. We loved how Jim asked Father Waseline if it was okay to kiss his bride then!
After their ceremony, we were off to Josephine Gardens at Brandywine Park! Jonathan McBride was such a pleasure to work with as we filmed the photo shoot with Kelly and Jim and their bridal party. And everyone had such fun laughing and posing for the wedding photos! Be sure to check out some photos from Kelly and Jim’s wedding in his gallery on his Facebook page!
The couple chose the glamorous Hotel du Pont for their reception. This elegant venue is known for its drama and opulence, featuring a gold ballroom with sparkling multi-tiered chandeliers, grand French neoclassical interior design and ornate plasterwork, especially captivating throughout the soaring ceilings. It was beautifully and tastefully decorated with filtering votives and lush, soft pastel floral centerpieces in eye-catching tall glass vases.
Kelly and Jim were there to greet and mingle with their friends and family during their cocktail hour. Afterwards, they were formally introduced to their guests at the start of their reception, and entered to cheers and applause! They danced a touching first dance together before Kelly’s grandfather gave a beautiful blessing to the couple. Wonderful, heartfelt toasts from all followed, including a message from Jim’s brother, his best man, who looks forward to seeing what life has in store for them. Kelly’s sister and maid of honor said that Kelly and Jim quickly became each other’s best friend right at the beginning, and no truer words spoken, “Who doesn’t want to spend the rest of their life with their best friend?”
EBE Events & Entertainment’s Milan 77 rocked the house when it came time to dance! And you can see just how packed that dance floor was and how much fun everyone was having! We were also glad to be there to capture Kelly and Jim’s cake cutting as well. That white four-tiered wedding cake from the pastry team at Hotel du Pont was amazing!
This was simply a fantastic wedding event and we truly enjoyed spending this day with this couple and their friends and family. Congratulations, Kelly and Jim!
