No Work and All Play… // Groom Prep on the Wedding Morning

the lucy wedding photo  groom prep cord3films

We love, love, love filming groom prep!  Every time we have the opportunity to film the groom and his groomsmen getting ready for the big day, it amounts to a lot of laughter and a ton of fun for everyone!  The guys are lucky because they usually have more time than the bride and her party to kick back and relax on the wedding day before the ceremony, photo sessions and festivities begin. (Nevertheless, we’re glad most brides make a little time to include a stress-reducer too!)

Spring Ahead // Beloved In-Season Wedding Flowers: Spring 2020

nantucket island wedding image spring floral bouquet cord3films

Wedding flowers… oh, where to begin?  There’s an abundance of gorgeous flowers to choose from when picking your wedding day florals!  But don’t worry, there are also so many knowledgeable and skilled florists ready to help you.  And to start, of course, you’re going to want to select flowers that both coordinate well with your wedding theme colors and mirror the overall mood and style of your wedding affair.

But we also remind you, when possible, to consider choosing mainly in-season flowers for your wedding. Choosing locally grown, in-season flowers supports smaller, often organic growers in your area and can also mean a lower price tag for you as well (as flowers don’t need to be flown in).  Not only can you see significant cost savings, but you’ll always be reminded of your wedding day when the season rolls back around.  Every year, nature will bring you a beautiful anniversary present in many of your same wedding day flowers!

We’re Getting Married! // Kara + Jeremy

Kara and Jeremy met while they were in college at Syracuse University.  Having friends in common, the two met on occasion but their first real conversation took place on a momentous day for them.  It was Cinco de Mayo and both Kara and Jeremy had turned in their last college assignments earlier that day.  On the porch of Jeremy’s fraternity house, they talked about so much, including how much they were going to miss their school and how much they each loved traveling.  They continued to talk all through the summer and officially started dating in September, even though they were now living in different cities.  Less than a year later, Jeremy moved to the city where Kara was living and as Kara put it for us, “the rest is history!”.

Jeremy’s proposal was so sweet!  The couple takes a day off each year around the holidays to do touristy things around the city.  Well, while they were out, Kara’s sister arrived to receive balloons that Jeremy had ordered and set them up in their living room.  Kara had planned on a relaxing evening at home watching movies but when she walked through the door and saw the balloons, including the one shaped like a diamond ring, she knew suddenly what was happening!  As she turned around, Jeremy got down on one knee and popped the question!  He told her afterwards that he made a dinner reservation for just the two of them, but instead, both of their families were there cheering as they entered the restaurant, ready to celebrate the happy occasion!

And their families gathered all together once again to celebrate their beautiful wedding day!  Kara and Jeremy held their wedding event at Aix La Chapelle Farm in Poolesville, MD, a relatively new venue at which we hadn’t had the pleasure of filming, and it was so exciting to visit and film at such a wonderful, historic working farm!  It did rain a little bit on their wedding day, but that didn’t put a damper on anything!

Kara got ready with her bridesmaids, mother and soon-to-be mother-in-law in the bridal cottage there at the farm while Jeremy prepared for the day onsite in the groom’s cabin with its breathtaking view of the farm fields.  Georgetown Bride finished with the bridal party’s makeup and the group got dressed into their beautiful neutral, coordinating gowns.

Kara and Jeremy exchanged cards to read during their morning preparations and both were so sweet and touching.  We loved how Jeremy began his card with ‘We’re getting married!’ as we know very well that this overwhelming feeling of excitement is so real!

Then Kara finished getting ready by putting on her wedding gown and accessories.  She wore a gorgeous strapless wedding dress with a full lace overlay, featuring a lovely, very subtle trumpet silhouette.  On her wrist was her grandmother’s bracelet and in her hair, she had attached a glittery, delicate headband and a long, flowing veil for the ceremony.  Absolutely stunning!  Jeremy and his groomsmen were all dressed in their classic black tuxedos and we were ready to move on to the first looks!

What better place for the couple and their bridal party to have their photo sessions than on this amazing farm!  The setting was so serene and lovely, a perfect locale for some serious and formal… and some fun photos with Vicki Grafton Photography!  It was such a pleasure to work with them for this celebration.

Kara had two special first looks that afternoon.  Her father received his first look at his beautiful daughter on her wedding day there outside the cottage, and it was so sweet…a moment full of giggles and laughter! Then, it was Jeremy’s turn! They shared an excited kiss before it was time to prepare for the ceremony.

The couple signed the ketubah in the groom’s cabin before their marriage ceremony.  Then, two were united in a wonderful Jewish ceremony in the Aix La Chapelle Farm barn, under a grand chuppah overflowing with lush blooms from Holly Heider Chapple Flowers in pinks, peaches and blues that matched Kara and her bridesmaids’ delightful bouquets.  We loved when their Rabbi read the words used by Jeremy and Kara to describe each other and to voice their love, respect and support for each other.  At the end of their traditional ceremony, Jeremy broke the glass and to shouts of ‘Mazel Tov’, the two were Mr. & Mrs.!

After cocktails in the barn, Kara and Jeremy’s tented reception kicked off at the farm venue.  The canopy was illuminated with twinkling white string lights as the couple was introduced and danced their first dance together.  Then, the hora was celebrated, a dance that is always so much fun! Kara’s mother and father gave wonderful welcome speeches followed by the blessing.  Later, we were treated to beautiful and touching toasts from Jeremy’s parents, Kara’s sister and maid of honor and Jeremy’s best men.  During these well-written, thoughtful speeches, there was hardly a dry eye!  It was such an awesome party as Elan Artists’ Audio Via rocked the house and Kara’s friends and family danced the night away!

It was so fantastic for our first visit to Aix La Chapelle Farm to be such a wonderful wedding event and to be the wedding of such a sweet couple.  Congratulations to Kara and Jeremy!
